The CloudTMS Driver App on iPhone

The CloudTMS Driver app for iPhone shows drivers their assigned loads and lets them update load status, capture BOLs and PODs, submit DVIRs and receipts, message dispatch, and check their permit book.

Where in CloudTMS: /app, /settings/import, /drivers, /users

Get the App and a Driver Login

Download CloudTMS Driver from the App Store (https://apps.apple.com/app/id6765597782). The same link is on the CloudTMS driver app page. Android drivers get the app from Google Play (see the Android article).

Drivers sign in with an email and password their company sets up. The login has to be linked to the driver’s profile in CloudTMS, or the app can sign in but can’t show any loads (the server answers “No driver profile linked to this account”).

Today the in-app way to create a linked driver login is the driver CSV import below. Adding a driver with Add Driver on the Drivers page only sends a welcome email, and inviting someone with the Driver role from Team Members creates a login that isn’t linked to a driver profile. If a driver is stuck on that message, email support@cloudtms.io.

  1. Go to Settings and open Data Import. (page: /settings/import)
  2. Click the Drivers card, then Download Template and fill in one row per driver. Each row needs an email address. (page: /settings/import)
  3. Upload the CSV, review the preview, then click Import N Records (N is the number of valid rows). (page: /settings/import)
  4. Each imported driver with an email gets a message with their email and a temporary password. They use the same email and password to sign in to the app.

What Drivers Can Do in the App

Loads: drivers see the loads assigned to them that are still in progress, plus loads delivered in the last 7 days, with pickup and delivery details and stops.

Status updates: a driver moves a load forward one step at a time: dispatched, at pickup, loaded, in transit, at delivery, delivered. Cancelling, holds and billing statuses stay with dispatch. Each update shows on the dispatch board right away.

Documents: drivers can photograph or upload BOLs, PODs, lumper receipts, scale and weight tickets, fuel and toll receipts and similar load paperwork (PDF or image, up to 32 MB). Uploading a POD marks the load POD received, creates a draft invoice for the load, and notifies the office.

DVIR: drivers submit pre-trip and post-trip inspections for their truck and trailer, with photos of defects, and see their inspections from the last 30 days.

Receipts: drivers can submit maintenance, repair, tire and fuel receipts for the office to review.

Messages: each load has a message thread between the driver and the office.

Permit book: CDL, medical card, TWIC, passport, truck and trailer registration, annual DOT inspection and any permits the office uploaded, each marked valid, expiring (within 30 days) or expired.

If the driver’s CDL or medical card is expired or expires within 30 days, the app gets a warning banner telling them to contact their dispatcher.

Notifications, Location and Camera

Push notifications: once a driver allows notifications, the app registers the phone with CloudTMS. Drivers get a push when someone in the office sends a message on one of their loads, and when their CDL or medical card has expired, their CDL expires in 30 days, or their medical card expires in 7 days. Signing out removes the phone so the next person on that device doesn’t get their alerts.

Location: the app can attach the phone’s GPS position to a status update. CloudTMS saves it as the driver’s last known location and moves their pin on the dispatch map. The server only receives a location with a status update; it has no endpoint for continuous tracking.

Camera: used to photograph load documents, receipts and DVIR defects.

Sign-In Problems

“Invalid credentials” means the email or password is wrong, or the login is inactive. To set a new password, use Forgot your password? on the CloudTMS web sign-in page and then sign in to the app with the new password.

“Your company’s CloudTMS account is paused” means the company’s subscription is cancelled or suspended. Ask your administrator to update billing.

After 10 failed attempts in a minute, the app is asked to wait a minute before trying again.

A sign-in stays valid for 30 days before the driver has to sign in again.
