Where in CloudTMS: /settings/integrations, /dispatch
Before You Connect
In your MyGeotab admin console, create an API user with read access to Devices and DutyStatusLogs. You'll need your database name, plus that user's name and password.
CloudTMS matches trucks by name: each truck's Unit number in CloudTMS has to match the device name in MyGeotab (capitalization doesn't matter). A driver's location is taken from the truck they're assigned to in CloudTMS.
Connect Geotab
- Open Settings, then Integrations, and find the Geotab card under ELD / Hours of Service. (page: /settings/integrations)
- Fill in Database, User name, and Password. (page: /settings/integrations)
- Click Connect Geotab. CloudTMS signs in to MyGeotab first and shows an error if the credentials are rejected. (page: /settings/integrations)
- To pull data right away, click Sync now. (page: /settings/integrations)
What Comes In, and What Doesn't
Truck GPS locations, shown for drivers on the dispatch map. CloudTMS pulls new data automatically every few minutes. The card says every 15 minutes, but it runs more often than that.
HOS hours remaining: not synced. Geotab reports duty status changes, not the remaining clocks.
Duty status: CloudTMS reads it from Geotab, but it doesn't show anywhere in CloudTMS yet.
Dash cams and safety events: not available through Geotab. Camera data comes only from Samsara or Motive.
Change or Disconnect
Click Disconnect on the card to remove the credentials. Only one provider can be your ELD source for each MC, so disconnect Samsara or Motive first if one of them already holds that role. If you run more than one MC, connect each MC separately.
If a sync fails, the card shows the Last error from Geotab.
